Do you need a photographer to cover an event that you are running? Or are you a novice or advanced beginner photographer needing some advice on how to shoot sports?
If so, contact me to see how I can help.
Event Photography
I have photographed a wide range of sporting events, musical concerts and plays – for clubs, venues and schools.
My images endeavour to portray the atmosphere and emotion of an event, not just record what happens. The aim is for the viewer to feel as though they were at the event.
I aim to submit my images quickly to my client, because I recognise that they will want to use them on social media as soon as possible. This can include sending selected files during an event, and then sending all files normally within 24 hours.
Prices start from £150. If you would like me to cover an event, use the form on the Contact page or email direct at berkeley.m@yahoo.com.
“We recently had Michael photograph our annual Baby Loss Awareness Week match. He was unbelievable, he captured the essence of the day perfectly and got some amazing action shots from the game.” Matt M, Sands United Salisbury Chairman.
Sport Photography Mentoring
Having photographed almost 40 sports, I have built up a wealth of experience and I love passing that on to photographers who are new to sports photography or who just want to improve what they are doing.
I offer three types of mentoring (see the Mentoring page for more detail):
Online Photo Critique This involves sending me up to 10 of your photos and I will provide comments on each of them, covering what I like and what I might have done differently. If you provide the original files, I will also show how I would have processed the images myself. If you wish, you can then send me another set of photos shot when my advice has been taken into account, for further comment. Price – from £50.
Workshops I can organise bespoke one-to-one workshops, from attending an event together through to a full 3-day course that takes you from the basics to producing a framed print of an image taken at an event. Prices - from £100.
Camera Club Talks Giving talks on sport photography, in person or by Zoom – from £60. I currently offer 3 different talks, 2 on sport photography and one that covers both sport and music photography. Further information can be found on my Lectures page.
I have written a series of blogs on How to Photograph ... a number of sports, as well as producing a pdf with my Sport Photography Top Tips.
If you would like to be mentored by me, use the form on the Contact page or email direct at berkeley.m@yahoo.com.
“Michael mentored me for Salisbury FC’s 24/25 pre-season matches, and I learnt so much about sports photography in such little time from him. He gives detailed feedback on your photos using his experience, providing advice on your compositions, crops, edits and timing, along with so much more information crucial to developing your photography!” Thomas B, Salisbury
“Michael organised two workshops covering Polo and Cricket. His experience and knowledge of the sports enable him to maximise the impact. He listens well and provides excellent follow up and feedback. If you enjoy sports photography, I'm sure Michael will help you produce even better images” Geoff O, Emsworth
“Thank you for taking time out of your day to message me and give me some fantastic tips and tricks to help me progress in my career as a sports photographer. Your insights have very much helped me and I thoroughly enjoyed how easy it was to understand the advice you have given me.” Lincoln M, Sydney, Australia

About Michael
I have had a camera for as long as I can remember - and I have been taking photography more seriously since 2016. I undertake about 100 assignments each year and enjoy nothing better than sitting behind the touchline at a rugby match on a Saturday afternoon in the pouring rain.
I became an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society in October 2020.
